Since education and training were incorporated into the FIM’s strategic objectives in 2021, the organisation has focused on expanding and strengthening its pool of qualified instructors. Seminar Instructors play a critical role in ensuring the high-quality preparation of Stewards and Officials, thereby supporting the safe and effective organisation of motorcycling events.

In 2022, the FIM launched the FIM Instructor Certificate, a structured learning pathway consisting of two training modules and one inter-module online workshop. The programme equips subject matter experts with the pedagogical skills and core competencies required to deliver high-quality learning experiences.

Each year, selected instructors are invited to attend “Training for the Instructors – Module 1,” which represents the first step of the certification pathway. In the following year, an inter-module webinar is organised to encourage knowledge sharing and peer learning within the instructor community. In the third year, “Training for the Instructors – Module 2” completes the certification process.

All instructors are expected to complete the full programme by 2027, after which the FIM Instructor Certificate will become a mandatory requirement for delivering training within FIM Seminars.

The certificate will remain valid for four years. To maintain certification, instructors will be required to attend at least two continuing education courses or workshops proposed by the FIM within each four-year certification cycle.

Training workshops are typically organised following the FIM Commissions Conference, allowing instructors to benefit from updated technical and regulatory knowledge.

In February 2026, a group of 14 Seminar Instructors attended Module 1 focusing on:

• Fundamental principles of adult learning
• Organisation and delivery of online seminars
• Key methodologies for effective training delivery

On the same day, a group of 13 instructors successfully completed Module 2, reaching the final stage of certification.

During the closing session, Damiano Zamana, FIM Deputy CEO and Operations Director, formally acknowledged the instructors’ contribution and delivered the certificates.

The FIM Instructor Certificate programme aims to:

1. Strengthen pedagogical competencies: Equip instructors with modern teaching methodologies, adult learning principles, and digital delivery skills
2. Standardise instructor quality across FIM seminars: Ensure consistent training delivery standards across disciplines and geographic regions
3. Promote knowledge sharing among instructors: Encourage collaboration and exchange of best practices through structured workshops and webinars
4. Enhance the effectiveness of seminar delivery: Improve instructors’ ability to design engaging learning experiences, including case-based and interactive learning formats
5. Establish a formal certification framework: Implement a structured qualification pathway leading to mandatory certification for all seminar instructors by 2027
6. Support continuous professional development: Maintain instructor competency through periodic continuing education and recertification requirements
