Background

Inclusion and equality are essential pillars for the sustainable development of sport organisations. However, many National Federations struggle to translate these principles into tangible actions. This workshop, “Making Inclusion Relevant for National Federations”, is designed to bridge this gap by highlighting the practical benefits of inclusive practices—from increased visibility and broader community engagement to new revenue opportunities and organisational growth.

Action Plan

The action plan involves organising an interactive and practical workshop tailored to representatives of National Federations. It will combine theoretical understanding with real-world case studies and hands-on activities. The workshop will encourage reflection on current practices and inspires concrete steps towards integrating inclusive values into Federation strategies.

Key steps include:

  • Identifying key stakeholders within each Federation responsible for diversity and inclusion.
  • Hosting a participatory workshop to build capacity and awareness.
  • Offering toolkits and guidance to support implementation.
  • Encouraging post-workshop follow-ups to monitor progress and share best practices.

Objectives

  • To recognise diversity as an asset that enhances innovation, decision-making, and organisational resilience.
  • To improve inclusive communication skills within Federations.
  • To encourage personal reflection on attitudes and behaviours related to inclusion.
  • To support Federations in designing sustainable, actionable inclusion programmes tailored to their needs.

Anticipated outcome

  • Increased awareness and commitment to inclusion among National Federation representatives.
  • Development of Federation-specific inclusion strategies that align with their broader goals.
  • Improved communication culture within Federations, fostering more respectful and diverse environments.
  • Creation of measurable inclusion initiatives that contribute to the Federation’s visibility and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strengthened network of inclusion advocates across the sport community.
